With Traverse Town being a world of eternal night, it was only natural that a chill breeze would sweep its way across the 2nd District. Pulling her blue and black flannel jacket tightly across her chest, Valkyrie fought the urge to shiver. A brief urge had made her go on a walk without thinking, and now she was freezing in the cold. Her leather boots and leggings did their best to shield her, but ultimately, she was just plain cold. Wrapping her arms around herself, she tried to remember why she went for a walk. She had been troubled the past few days. Heartless had been sighted even more so in the Districts lately, not to mention more dangerous varieties. As a Keyblader, she felt it her duty to somehow find the cause to the recent disturbances, but she didn't know where to start.
"Oh bother, what am I going to do?" she mumbled to herself, lost in her musings. Holding out one hand in front of her, she summoned her Keyblade in a flash of thunder and examined it. Her memories were still unclear, even after living in Traverse Town for almost a year ; however she knew that Shiver Spark was meant for her and her only. Holding the blade backhand, she took a deep breath and lunged forward, slashing horizontally. Using the blunt end of the Keyblade, she followed through with another swipe, exhaling sharply. The brief movement had warmed her up slightly, so she continued, mindlessly practicing her attacking skills and keeping herself warm. nox

A world of eternal night, a chilly breeze blowing in a town of stars, Josh let out a shiver as he would try to zip up his black jacket. "Oh damnit, don't tell me the blasted thing is broken..." He muttered, trying with all his strength before the zipper went up, though he doubted it would come down again. The blonde haired man let out an exasperated sigh. Oh lord, what was he going to do now? Going for a walk hadn't been the best idea, it seemed, especially in the blasted cold.
With Heartless being sighted more day by day, Josh couldn't help but take the walk though. People were getting nervous. And despite only being here for close to a year after coming from his home world for some reason or another, he took it upon himself to try and alleviate those fears as much as he could by taking walks in the bloody cold. He had taken Dragon's Key, strapped it to his back, bundled up with a scarf, black pants, jacket and boots, and had gone out to make sure that the Heartless hadn't come around. He hated himself for it, but it was something he took seriously.
He heard the sounds of a blade being swung. "Hm?" He mused aloud, looking around and following the source of the sound until his sights focused on a woman swinging a keyblade. He would lean against the nearby building and watch curiously. Couldn't she have been training inside?

While she attacked an imaginary Heartless, Valkyrie's free mind wandered. Her earlier cold had now dissolved into lukewarm comfort ; her muscles no longer shivered involuntarily. Now that she had time to think about it, there was a lot she didn't know about her Keyblade. Shiver Spark's basic functions were somehow in her memory, but past that... she didn't know anything. An ill feeling of anxiety began to creep up upon her, causing a shiver in no way due to the cold. As her mind continued to race, so did her attacks, her feet stepping quicker and quicker, her strikes losing their strength to speed and her breath becoming more ragged. Was there something she knew but couldn't remember? Something that could help with the recent Heartless surge? Faster and faster her thoughts flew, until her body couldn't keep up anymore. Her boot struck against the ground awkwardly mid-stride, pulling her out of her tangled thoughts with a sharp gasp. Too shocked to recover, Valkyrie ended up tumbling head over shoulders.
Her scarf that she had tucked underneath her jacket unraveled as she hit the ground, flowing rather comically over her head and eyes. Letting out a quiet curse, she went to remove the scarf obscuring her vision. With a quick glance around, she noticed her Keyblade had scattered out of her hands and skidded a ways across the ground. Following her line of sight upwards, she spotted someone leaning against a wall. A sense of embarassment shot through Valkyrie. Had he been watching her?! Jumping to her feet and recalling her Keyblade to her hand, she adjusted her scarf in a fluster.
"H-how long have you been standing there?" she accused, her blush becoming more prominent in the cold breeze. Stepping towards the man, she crossed her arms and attempted a cross look. nox

As Josh watched this chick train, he couldn't help but wonder about the origins of his own keyblade. Actually, he could barely remember his own. Who the hell was he, besides a keyblade wielder, and someone who had promised to help the people here? It was like everything before the last year had been a dream... And he didn't understand it. It bothered him. It picked at and ate at him like crazy and he furrowed an eyebrow just thinking about it. Finally, he let out a sigh, his breath coming out in cold smokey vapor from his lips from the freezing temperatures around him. He was shivering, he realized, despite bundling up and wrapping a scarf around. I mean... What else could he do? Light a house on fire with a Fireball and warm himself there?
.... Well, technically he could do that. But he wouldn't. Because it was probably a lot colder then this in prison. He'd curl up to a toasty campfire later, he decided. Of course, he took notice to the girl tumbling over. An amused grin crossed his face. While he wanted to go help, she would probably whine about him being there, so it was better to get a kick out of her antics.
Soon enough, as she went to retrieve her blade, she would notice him, and true to his word, she would whine about it via a question. How was it whining? The look she gave him told enough. "Long enough to wonder why you'd train outside in the freezing cold" He said flatly, smirking faintly. His eyes went to her keyblade and he chuckled. "Why don't you head back inside? I'll deal with any heartless that come around. No use freezing your ass off while you're just training" he offered kindly, despite the cross look she was giving him.

To be honest, Valkyrie couldn't keep mad for too long. Once her frustration waned, her embarrassment came back in full flow, so instead of a scowl, she ended up grinning a little. Listening to the man's reply, she stretched her arms above her and let out a small chuckle. He had a point, however, she wouldn't just let him get a one-up on her that easily!
"The same reason you're standing in the cold watching a girl like me practice," she laughed, tucking her scarf properly within her jacket once again and unsummoning her Keyblade. Once she got over herself, she studied the man in front of her in more detail. He didn't seem adequately wrapped up for the weather either, prompting a sly grin on Valkyrie's part. She was brought back to reality at his offer and promptly shook her head.
"I wasn't training exactly... I was trying to clear my head a little. Guess I got a bit out of hand, huh?" she explained, offering out her hand. "I'm Valkyrie, but you can call me Val for short, if ya want. So, you're a Keyblader too, since you said you'd take care of the Heartless for me? I appreciate the offer, but I think I'll be able to handle myself."
Tapping the hard ground with her boots, Valkyrie rubbed her hands together in an attempt to ward the encroaching cold. nox

He smirked a bit as he saw her anger quickly turn back to embarrassment. He had a feeling that wittle gwumpy face was a facade, a charade, and it would fade quickly. Isn't it great when you're right?
"I'm standing in the cold watching an insane girl practicing in the cold without being properly dressed because wouldn't you watch a monkey on a unicycle juggling onions?" He snarked right back with a cheeky grin, cracking his neck and trying not to break it under the position of his scarf. He had a bad neck it seemed, but not much he could do about it.
"Uh huh..." He said to her words, crossing his arms. "Out of hand, my ass. It was like watching a monkey on a unicycle" He teased with a grin, going back to the "Watching because people always watch odd things" point with a little bit of a snark. He would nod and extend his hand, shaking hers. "Joshua, just call me Josh" He said with a chuckle. "Aye, I'm a Keyblader. Or Keyblade Wielder. Or that guy who carries his house key on his back" He cracked with a cheeky smirk. To her refusal of the offer, he would nod. "Could just patrol together then. Better to have two people with house keys on their back then one, aye?"

This man was charming, indeed. A chirpy attitude with the ability to throw her teasing back at her? Valkyrie had certainly met her match. Reaching up, she pushed a stray hair back to its position, hiding a smile behind her hand. Her bubbly attitude began to return as he spoke to her, and she found herself enjoying his little quips. It had been a while since she had a full conversation with someone.
"Well gosh, Josh, you make me sound like I've never used a weapon in my life," she replied, mirroring his smirk and shaking his hand firmly. "Bit cheeky to presume that, you might find yourself getting poked with my own house key if you keep that up."
At the mention of patrolling, Valkyrie nodded her assent, summoning her Keyblade yet again to her hand, the handle cold under her tight grip. "Sure, sounds good to me. Just be careful where you swing that thing, we don't want to end up trespassing because you unlocked a few doors." she said, grinning all the while. She enjoyed the brief battle of wit, making the cold seem not so important anymore. Without any other pressing matters to discuss, Valkyrie would start walking ahead, hoping Josh would follow. nox

Shadow Heartless X 14 Appeared! The heart of the keyblade Some of the strongest heartsTwo keyblades in one spot? It was only a matter of time before the heartless picked up on their precense, the recent surge of these strong hearts.... it would become a great source of sustense for them. One by one the small beings would appear from dark blobs on the ground, all around the two humans. The creatures stood motionless for a moment, as if inspected their prey before a total of six would leap forward, three towards the female, three at the male, spinning raking at them with their claws. Those that wearn't attacking stood still, only their attenae vibrating... as if trying to signal something. If one were to pay attention, they would be able to feel a stronger dark precense not far from their current location, perhaps whatever these creatures were trying to contact?

He playfully stuck out his tongue at her in response. "I didn't say THAT~" He teased playfully, smirking a bit. "I just said you training in the freezing cold resembled a monkey riding a unicycle" He snarked, smirking a bit. "Oh really, is that a threat?" He teased, nudging her playfully. "I just might have to poke you for that...."
Before they could begin their patrol though, Josh sensed the one thing he hated most. Heartless. And just like that, they had begun to rise from the ground. It seemed the presence of two keyblade wielders had brought them here. And there would be more, he was sure. 14 of them...
Josh would quickly draw Dragon's Key, and just in time for three to leap at him. Josh would not waste a single movement, stabbing right through one and killing it in mid-air, before backflipping away from the other two. His focus would go on the two remaining, his eyes serious, focused... Survialistic. He would do all possible to survive. To protect the people here. Josh would wait for one to leap toward him before he would grab it by the throat, crushing it's neck with his free hand, noticeably having the strength to wield his keyblade with a single hand. It left the creature open to be stabbed through the chest, causing it to disappear. The other one would try to take advantage, but Josh would roll under it as it lunged at him, before slashing through it's back, making it disappear as well. His gaze went to the others that had their antennas moving, as if signalling something... It wasn't good, he knew and he would quickly fall upon them with a leaping slash into the fray, hoping to take out several at a time.

With Josh's poke, Valkyrie felt her cheeks flush momentarily. With no retort in mind, all she could do was look away and huff quietly to herself. She had just about composed herself and was about to ask Josh a question before a sudden sense of danger gripped her. Pools of darkness formed on the ground around him, making way for the Shadows that appeared around them. Their number was maintainable at the present moment, but Valkryie knew that darkness beget more darkness. If they didn't finish this quickly, more would come.
Gripping Shiver Spark even tighter, she let out a shaky laugh. All she had to do was to treat this as a challenge, and she'd come out the victor. Three Shadows leapt at her, attempting to connect first. With Val's Keyblade already summoned, she had time to pool lightning around her feet and push to the right. She dodged to the side, aided by the magic, and swung sharply, catching one of the Shadows on the side and causing it to burst into dissipating dark mist. Raising her Keyblade up, the tip flashed briefly before a bolt of thunder rained down upon another of the Shadows that attacked, leaving it to return to the darkness.
With that done, the last Shadow was already mid-flight, attempting to swipe once again. Readying her blade, she cast the magic required for her next move and side-stepped left, while an exact clone of herself appeared and side-stepped right. Mirroring her movements exactly, the two Val's swung hard and fast horizontally, catching the Shadow from behind with a double attack, smashing it into oblivion. Her clone disappeared, but Val didn't come out unscathed. Somehow the Shadow must have caught her as she tried to move, for there was a shallow gash in her forearm. It was a bit painful at the moment, but it wasn't serious.
Taking a moment, Val glanced around, seeing other Shadow Heartless with their antennae searching around. As an ill sense of foreboding danger crept within her mind, she imbued the sapphire upon her Keyblade with a surge of thunder, causing the blade to spark alight with power. With that done, Valkyrie charged into the rest of the group, determined to catch as many as she could with a sweeping strike. nox

((I'm doing this durning my lunch break at collage, so forgive the possible shortness of the post, don't have a whole lot of time)) The attackers, brutally swept back caused the attacking party to hesitate for a brief moment, but.... keybearers were expected to have a sharp bite, it made the eventual meal all the more satisfying. However these warriors had more than simple 'bite' when they lunged in upon them many of them quickly fell, only three remained standing from the duel onslaught, there allies quickly fading back into the darkness. The thing was, these Shadows did nothing to the keybearers, simply continuing to vibrate their antennae, one could see their actions were more akin to scouts... or communicators. Whatever the case a sound would be hears coming up the streets, as soon as the Shadow's antennae stopped vibrating. Armored Heartless X 2 Appeared!Wielding swords, two armored heartless came out from the alleyways, clearly they were the leader of this 'scouting' party as well as what the Shadow'a were signaling! More skillful than the previous attackers they would use their blades in an attempt to strike at the keybearers sides a few times in an attempt to catch them off guard, the remaining shadows circling around the fight, awaiting an opportunity to lash out at their targets....

The two keyblade-wielders had successfully warded off a good amount of the heartless, but it seems that this wasn't over yet. While they had been battling, the other ones had been signalling something, and Josh had been unable to fall upon them and stop them in time. The blonde's gaze would turn to the sounds coming from the streets nearby, noticing that the antennas of the mooky mooks had stopped moving.
Within moments, Josh saw why. Two armored, armed heartless came from the alleyways. It didn't take mermaid magic to figure out that they were the leaders of this little juice stand, and had been summoned by the scouts. The remaining ones were circling them as well, hoping they would be distracted by the big guns to get shots in at them.
Josh stood back to back with the other keyblader, and nodded back at her. "I take one, you take the other" He said, lifting his blade to quickly block the first few strikes, before a fireball would erupt from his free hand. He would toss it at the Armored Heartless in front of him, which missed and exploded under a few of the smaller Heartless, taking out a good few of them. It was then that he would take advantage of the explosion possibly (No guarantee) causing a small distraction to the Armored Heartless in front of him, lashing out and slashing at it from the side, going for the side of it's head.

Managing to defeat a few Shadows with her last attack, Val backed up a little, seeing Josh had the same idea. However, it had seemed they weren't quick enough in dispatching the scouting Shadows, as two armored Heartless appeared, clanking their way towards the two of them. Backing up into Josh, she regained her breath a little. Val eyed up the two incoming Heartless as Josh spoke.
"Alright then, first one to take theirs down owes the other an ice-cream!" she shouted, bracing herself off the floor and slide-dashing towards the armored Heartless with terrifying speed. Seeing that the armored Heartless had already begun to swing its blade, she aimed her dash so that she would most likely dodge the swipe. With her Keyblade still conducting the power of thunder, Val wanted to get a hit in before her opponent could react again. She had aimed her dash so that she could pass to the right of the Heartless, striking with her Keyblade in such a way that it would cause considerable damage if it hit. Whether or not she connected, her momentum would carry her past the Heartless. Val figured with all that metal armor, it'd have to be somewhat conductive, right? If so, then her Keyblade and her magic would give the poor Heartless one helluva jolt!
As one last hurrah before she dashed to a stop, she raised her Keyblade and summoned a bolt of lighting above the Heartless. Josh | Notes : Just for clarity~Active Command Style - Swift Strike
-...conducting the power of thunder... : Keyblade Affinity -Valkyrie can infuse her Keyblade with the thunder element. Enemies weak to thunder will take more damage.
- ...slide-dashing... : Slide Dash - Valkyrie can quickly throw herself in a direction, either closing in on an opponent or dodging out of the way of an attack.
-...bolt of lighting... : Thunder! - Channeling thunder magic , Valkyrie summons down bolt(s) of thunder from above her opponents.

The explosion had the intended effect, taking the Heartless knights attention for a brief moment, long enough for a strike to hit its skull causing it to recoil a but, shaking it off the armored heartless quickly rushed forward at josh once more attempting to strike with its blade, this time right in his leg.
The electricity, combined with the girls quick movements was confounding the other knight, a spinning slash was used to counter the lighting enhanced key blade, though the resulting static charge slowed it down, enough for the bolt of thunder to strike down sendig it flying back. Heavily damaged the heartless leapt a bit off the ground attempting a downward slash from above.

The Heartless had been hit, and hit good. But unlike it's smaller cronies, it wasn't out like that. "Careful, Valks, these sonbitches are tough!" Josh called to the fellow keyblade wielder as he would hop over the slash intended for his leg. His free hand would ball into a fist, going for a hard punch aiming for it's skull. Whether it hit or not though, Josh would quickly follow up with a hard horizontal slash to try and gut through it's mid-section. Luna Rayheart
